In
preparing this set of readers, we have attempted to put the words and phrases in
Hong Kong English Syllabus for Primary Schools into the context of the life of
Chinese children in Hong Kong, who are learning English as their second
language.
This series of 12 books has been carefully graded to
correspond with the vocabulary level of each stage of reading ability. The
‘A’ series introduces the various vocabulary items and the
‘B’ series gives further opportunity for word practice.
As
a reference for our work we have used the Panda Readers from Singapore and we
are indebted to their authors.
