Designed to introduce lower secondary students to different genres of literature, Lee Geok Lan’s thoughtful selection of poems, prose, pieces and dramatic extracts from local and foreign works allows students to experience a sharing minds and hearts across cultures, The poems chosen speak of a variety of themes, ranging from tangible subjects such as clothes, to the more abstract; while the short stories and plays depict qualities and situations and activities intended to evoke and cultivate an informed personal response in the students, leading to a deeper understanding and appreciation of literary techniques and effects.
