Federal Literature Companion

The editors, Catherine Lim and Lisa Tan have made this selection of short stories based on their literary merit, interest and variety. To help students go beyond the level of literal comprehension to arrive at an understanding of the more complex and subtle features of a literary work, they include both exercises and commentaries after each story or poem. Through challenging activities, students are invited to respond in a personal way to the texts and assisted in developing the analytical and critical skills needed to face the unseen component in the new secondary Literature syllabus. Above all, they are encouraged to relate to literature as life and to find pleasure in their study of the subject. Answers are available for teachers.
