Roman Bose has written and researched extensively on World War II and the military history of Singapore and the region. His other books include Fortress Singapore, a guide to battlefields on the island, and A Will For Freedom, on the Indian independence movement. He broke the story of the Battlebox in 1988 while at The Straits Times, has worked with the United Nations and Channel NewsAsia, and is now a senior journalist with international news agency AFP.
