Julian C. H. Lee is an Economic and Social Research council fellow in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Kent. He is also a lecturer in the School of Arts and Social Sciences at Monash University. He is the author of Islamisation and Activism in Malaysia (in press) and is also the wine columnist for Off The Edge magazine

The Malaysian Way of Life brings together twenty-one short, accessible, insightful and sometimes humorous articles on a wide array of aspects of quintessential Malaysian culture and politics, written by some of the most well-regarded anthropologists in and out of Malaysia. Topics range from food to democracy, theme parks to multiculturalism, cinema to demonstrations and much more. To add further insight to these observations on Malaysian life, comments have been also provided by both scholars and writers in other fields.    Whether or not you have wondered about the deeper aspects of durian, the slogan ‘Malaysia Boleh’ or mosque designs, you will surely discover new perspectives of Malaysia’s culture and politics and see them in a different light when you have to read The Malaysian Way of Life
