About the Author
As a short and thin child, gang members on the street constantly bullied Ker. Unable to fight back, the boy decided to build himself up physically. The rest is, as they say, physical fitness history.
Fitness expert Ker Cheng Lik has been a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) for more than 39 years since he began in 1971. Until his retirement in 2007, he was previously Chief PTI with the Singapore Civil Defence Force. His responsibilities included developing training doctrines and planning, organising, conducting and supervising physical training and various fitness tests.
As Chief PTI with the SAF until 1996, Ker trained soldiers, instructors and unfit, obese and rehabilitated servicemen, to help them attain excellence in fitness and health. His areas of expertise are gymnastics, swimming, athletics, unarmed combat, and fitness training.
