This collection of watercolour images celebrates Singapore’s hawker culture which has been recognised by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage.
On his regular sketching sessions across Singapore, award-winning artist William Sim has come across many unusual hawker stalls which boast both character and heritage. He has since captured them for posterity with his whimsical style. Each illustration is accompanied by a short write-up.
Wiliam Sim is a full-time art practitioner and a partner at a visual arts studio based in Singapore. A graduate of the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, he has experimented with various media and exhibited his works regionally. He is also the illustrator behind the popular Colouring the Lion City series as well as illustrated books on Singapore. Botanical Singapore looks at the native plants in the city while in Out & About in Singapore books 1 & 2, he and his co-author introduce the popular sights and green areas to young readers.
