Dr Ben Tan graduated with a medical degree from the National University of Singapore and obtained his Masters in Sports Medicine from the renowned Australian Institute of Sport. He is presently Head of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Sport & Exercise Medicine Centre; and Chairman of the Exercise is Medicine (EIM) Singapore National Centre and EIM Southeast Asia Regional Centre.
Dr Tan is also an Asian Games and four-time SEA Games gold medalist in sailing. He took up marathon running recreationally in 2002, competing in numerous races including all six World Marathon Majors, and has a personal best time of 2 hrs 56 min.
